Our Veterinarians
Dr. Padilla
"Loving and enjoying my profession” is how Dr. Padilla describes his work. Graduating from the School of Veterinary Medicine UWI in 1998 he has practiced mainly small animal medicine. Previous to entering Veterinary Medicine he majored in Zoology at the University of the West Indies St. Augustine, where he graduated with a B.Sc. in 1991. Dr. Padilla is full time at EVC but is currently the President of both the Trinidad & Tobago Veterinary Association (TTVA), and the Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association (CbVMA). He is also an active member in his church and local community. Amongst his favourite animals are dogs, birds and tropical fishes. In his spare time he dances, hikes and builds model boats. Each year he participates in one or more of the continuing education work shops offered by the veterinary fraternity. Currently, Dr. Padilla is hard at work on his MPhil focusing on canine reproduction.
Dr. Mellowes
Dr. Michelle Mellowes says “I am excited about my profession and enjoy caring for people through their companion or farm animals”. She is a part-time veterinarian at EVC, graduating from the School of Veterinary Medicine UWI, in 1998. In 2004, she obtained her M.Sc. in Animal Reproduction from the University of Liverpool. Dr. Mellowes works with both food-producing and companion animals. In her free time, she enjoys dancing and playing the steel pan. The dog is her favorite animal.
Dr. Mellowes is an active member of her church, the TTVA, the CbVMA and the AVMA.

Dr. Hasani Stewart
Dr. Hasani Stewart joined the practice in September 2009, after graduating from the School Of Veterinary Medicine UWI St. Augustine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He is currently pursuing his Masters. Dr Stewart believes that: “The best thing about being a vet is that you have the unique opportunity to have a significant impact on the lives of people and the animals they share their lives with. Because of this veterinarians should do their best to provide the finest medical care possible to all patients.” Dr. Stewart has a keen interest in wild life. He was exposed to wild life medicine in South Africa, where he received hands on experience in rhino, lion and cheetah immobilizations and research. He is the proud owner of a Rottweiler named Jeff who everyone says is just like Dr. Stewart. He enjoys travelling, watching and playing sports, and spending time with friends and family.

Mrs. Samantha Howard-Padilla
Mrs. Samantha Howard-Padilla has been a key person in the operations of Eastern Veterinary since 2002. Functioning often as receptionist, veterinary assistant, groomer and more, she keeps the clinic running smoothly. Mrs. Padilla is well qualified; she is a graduate of the University of the West Indies with a B.Sc. in Agribusiness Management. Her love for animals is unquestionable. She cares for her 3 rotts and 2 mixed pitbulls with tremendous love. Mrs. Padilla enjoys her church activities, dancing and outdoor activities.
Mr. Ricardo Wellington
Mr. Ricardo Wellington fondly known as 'Bird' brings life to this place of healing. His love for animals is often shown by the care for his dogs Romeo and Kokey. Mr. Wellington's years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant has been an asset to Eastern Veterinary Clinic.
Ms. Karen Joseph
Ms. Karen Joseph has also recently joined our clinic as an Administrative Assistant. After graduating from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor's in Business Management, her love for the four legged creatures has drawn her to become a part of our team at Eastern Veterinary Clinic. Ms. Joseph enjoys caring for her lovely mixed breed canine companion, .
